Is it acceptable to say you took a sabbatical to explain a "time-gap" in your résumé?

You can only claim "sabbatical" if it was a company-sanctioned paid leave that the company called a sabbatical. Otherwise, explain the time gap in terms of what it was. If it was for caregiving, call it that under "experiences." Be sure to share the skills you gained during that gap.
