- Can you go "too far" in reverse-engineering the résumé to fit the job description?
Can you go "too far" in reverse-engineering the résumé to fit the job description?
- The only way you can go too far is if you embellish or lie
- Make sure to have a story or backup point in case you are probed on a term or point of your résumé
- Feel free to use their lingo, but stay honest to your actual experiences and skillsets
- Successful interviewing is the art of telling the interviewer exactly what he or she wants to hear, as long as it also happens to be the truth.
- Think about an interview in which you failed to tell the interviewer something which was relevant, appropriate, or recommended
- If you did not put that on the table, you have not successfully executed the interview.
- If you find yourself in a situation in which you are following short in a qualification, if you address the qualification which is missing before the interviewer does, you can use a "pre-emptive strike"
- "On my own I will take the necessary courses and study to bridge that gap"
